About DHCM
Objective
The Department was founded in August 1994. The aim of its bachelors program is to provide health care professionals with practical experience. The graduate program cultivates students with advanced professional capabilities in health care management. Students either go into professional practice, health care management or research-related work.
Characteristics
1. Teaching Characteristics
The Department of Health Care Management is concerned with the diversified development of its students and their career planning. Classes include compulsory general health service management courses and four different career programs offered in collaboration with health-related businesses: 1. Health insurance; 2. Quality management; 3. Biostatistics; 4. Health information.
The Department has three professional research units, two physical offices and one cloud center, including: the Model Technical College Cloud Independent Learning Center, the Health Environment Research Office and the Health Data Analysis Think-tank. These facilities enhance the department's research standards and competitiveness of the student body.
2. Faculty
The Department currently employs 12 full-time MOE-accredited teachers, including two professors, five associate professors, four assistant professors and one lecturer. All departmental faculty are graduates of well-known universities in the US or Taiwan. They are highly specialized in their fields and have a wealth of practical work experience. Their areas of expertise include financial health care management, health care facilities management, medical statistics, health policy and management, health care quality management and business management, etc.
3. Student Career Development
(1) Professional domains:Administrative departments of public and private hospitals of all levels, such as: medical centers, regional hospitals, district hospitals or comprehensive clinics; or other medical institutions, such as: long-term care facilities, nursing hospices for chronic diseases, etc.; or health care-related organizations, such as: medical equipment chain stores, pharmaceutical logistics companies, health examination companies, etc.; or government health agencies, such as: the Ministry of Health and Welfare, county and city health bureaus, the National Health Insurance Administration, etc.
(2) Health management core personnel: A. Management professionals of all levels; B. General administrative staff; C. Registration staff, clerks; D. Administrative assistants, secretaries; E. Project managers; F. Administrative analysts; G. Planning personnel.
(3) Health insurance personnel: A. Medical records management staff; B. Insurance claims officers; C. Insurance clerks; D. Disease classification staff; E. Project planners.
(4) Quality control personnel: A. Medical care quality management personnel; B. Medical care quality accreditation administrative staff; C. Medical care quality officer.
